An installer that greatly simplifies the installation of Plone and its runtime dependencies
Bitnami Plone Stack is a free software project that has been designed from the ground up to greatly simply the deployment of the Plone CMS application and its runtime dependencies. It can be deployed using native installers, virtual machines or cloud images. It is fully compatible with all GNU/Linux operating systems.
What is Plone?
Plone is a free and open source content management system built on top of the Zope application server. It can be used for any kind of website, including blogs, internet sites, web shops and internal websites.
Installing Bitnami Plone Stack
As mentioned, Bitnami Plone Stack is distributed as native installers, which have been designed from the offset to run on any Linux kernel-based operating system, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit instruction set architectures.
To install the Plone CMS app on your desktop computer or laptop, simply download the binary package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture, run it and follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
Run Plone on the cloud
Thanks to Bitnami, users are able to run Plone on the cloud with their hosting platform or by using one of the pre-built images designed by Bitnami for the Windows Azure and Amazon EC2 cloud hosting providers.
Virtualize Plone or use the Docker container
In addition to the cloud images, you can also virtualize Plone using Bitnami’s Ubuntu-based VM images, which are compatible with the Oracle VirtualBox and VMware ESX/ESXi virtualization software. Soon, you will also be able to download Plone as a Docker container.
The Bitnami Plone Module
Unfortunately, this is one of the rarest Bitnami products that don’t come with a module for the Bitnami LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) server, which means that Bitnami Plone Stack is your only solution for deploying Plone and all of its runtime dependencies on your personal computer.
